DigiTurk Uses Marquis’ X2Pro for Audio Finishing
Marquis Broadcast, has today announced Turkish broadcaster, DigiTurk, has invested in X2Pro Audio Convert enterprise licences. The Istanbul based facility will now use five copies of Marquis’ X2Pro for audio finishing as part of its post production workflow for all its in-house channels.
X2Pro uses Marquis’ Media Highway, the core technology employed by Marquis’ media integration products to integrate Final Cut Pro X into professional audio workflows, delivering seamless integration between the two applications. Previously DigiTurk used Final Cut Pro 7. However, following an upgrade to Final Cut Pro X, DigiTurk needed to export and send audio to Pro Tools for audio finishing. Marquis’ X2Pro was selected on price and performance and will now be used for work on TV programmes, movies and series channels.
X2Pro works by converting the exported Final Cut Pro X XML into an AAF file, which Avid Pro Tools can open as a session. Using the enhanced metadata in XML 1.2 from Final Cut Pro X, X2Pro provides a high fidelity conversion to a Pro Tools session, with planned support for audio gain and key frames. Taking advantage of the innovative metadata-based organising features in Final Cut Pro X, X2Pro allows detail control over the conversion of audio Roles in Final Cut Pro X to Pro Tools tracks, allowing sound designers and mixers to start working immediately.
“X2Pro’s functionality allows users to utilise the full advantages of Final Cut Pro X and Avid Pro Tools,” explains Tom Hassall, marketing manager, Marquis Broadcast. “The product saves time and improves the efficiency of audio finishing and now many leading organisations across the globe are enjoying the benefits that X2Pro brings to post production workflows.”

Marquis Launches X2ProLE and X2Pro Professional
Friday, 05 October 2012 11:20
Marquis Broadcast, specialist in content workflows and media integration software, has today announced the launch of X2ProLE and X2Pro Professional, its cutting edge conversion application for delivering Final Cut Pro X projects to Avid Pro Tools for audio finishing.
“X2Pro uses Marquis’ Media Highway, the core technology employed by Marquis’ media integration products to integrate Final Cut Pro X into professional audio workflows, delivering seamless integration between the two applications,” confirms Chris Steele, product manager, Marquis Broadcast. “The new version of X2Pro Professional includes a number of enhancements designed to improve functionality and increase ease of use, as well as a lower cost ‘light’ option: X2ProLE.”
Two important additions to the Professional product are: trimming audio source with handles to reduce the size of the AAF files and the option to reference audio files rather than embed them in the AAF. In addition, features have been added which enhance the way FCP X Roles are converted to ProTools tracks: the option to select which Roles are exported, control the order the Roles will appear in ProTools and the option to ignore subroles when packing media onto tracks. BWF metadata is now maintained to help preserve key information from shoot to finish and make it easier to select the right channel of audio. Together these features deliver far more compact tracks in ProTools and help accelerate the workflow.
Brian Gonosey, editor on Electric Entertainment's 1-hour drama, LEVERAGE said: "When Electric Entertainment transitioned to Final Cut Pro X, we needed to re-engineer our whole workflow. X2Pro became the missing puzzle piece that allowed us to work with Apple's software and still maintain the highest quality production standard. With Version 2's ability to work with referenced media, X2Pro will greatly increase our efficiency in moving from FCP X to Pro Tools."
X2ProLE is the new cost effective option for those who do not need the professional features of media referencing, trimming or detailed control over the conversion of Roles. It has the same feature set as X2Pro v1. X2ProLE can be upgraded to the Professional edition with an In App Purchase.
“At Marquis our mission is to help customers achieve maximum efficiencies from their digital processes,” confirms Steele. “X2Pro Professional now provides a smooth workflow between Final Cut Pro X and Avid Pro Tools and now with the additional tools and enhanced ease-of-use, users can take full advantage of the functionality of these two world-class products.”
X2Pro Professional is available on the Mac App Store at $149, and X2ProLE at $59.
